DAANJ New Athletic Directors Course, 8/13/12 at NJSIAA
NJSIAA/DAANJ Athletic Directors Course to be held on Monday, August 13, 2013 at NJSIAA central office
from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Athletic Administrators your Association at work for you! Advance registration is required by August 7th with the NJSIAA. The Information for the workshop can also be found on the home page of the NJSIAA.org website. Registration is through the NJSIAA 609-259-2776.
The NJSIAA central offices are located at 1161 Route 130 North in Robbinsville, NJ.
This in-service training is specifically designed for first year Athletic Directors new to that position at a NJSIAA member school and limited experienced Athletic Directors (2 - 3 years of service at a NJSIAA member school). This one-day course will be conducted by staff from NJSIAA and DAANJ.
AGENDA:
8:30 AM – 8:35 AM Welcome and Introductions
8:35 AM – 11:30 AM DAANJ – ADs’ mind set, oversight of coaches, evaluation of coaches, dealing with difficult parents, time management, ten (10) quick thoughts for new Athletic Directors, sportsmanship, review of timely and important issues for new ADs.
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM - NJSIAA Policies, Procedures, Handbook, Technology and Q&A, Specific Sport Regulations
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM NIAAA Leadership Training Course 501
For Certification purposes please note that LTI 501 (Athletic Admin: Philosophy, Leadership Organizations and Professional Programs), and Course 502 (Athletic Administration: Principles, Strategies and Methods) can now be taken on-line through NIAAA.org. The requirements for CAA certification are as follows:
CERTIFIED ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATOR (CAA)
*Bachelor's Degree, or higher, from an accredited institution
*Approval of Personal Data Form (PDF)
*Two (2) or more years of experience as an athletic administrator
*Employed by (or retired from) a school, school district or state high school athletic/activities association in such capacity that he administration of interscholastic athletics is (was) among job responsibilities
*Completion of LTC 501, LTC 502, LTC 504 and LTC 506
* Successful completion of the CAA examination
* Read the NIAAA Code of Ethics

The DAANJ in conjunction with the NJSIAA have partnered to help Athletic Administrators new to the profession and with less than three years on the job to experience the "NEW" Athletic Administrator Workshop.
The agenda will focus on items you need to know from AD's and the NJSIAA. We have condensed the day and included in the afternoon a NIAAA Leadership Training Course LTI 501. This is your first course towards Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA)
Also as a "NEW" AD please remember it is not too late to sign up for the 2012-13 school year as a DAANJ/NIAAA member. Information is posted on-line at the DAANJ(.)org website.
